Institute of Geology and Seismology participates as Beneficiary in the competitive Research Project "Rapid Earthquake Damage Assessment Consortium – REDACt", which is co-financed by the Black Sea Basin Joint Operational Program 2014-20 and National resources.
The project covers the Programme eligible areas including the Cross Border ones. Its objectives include: the development of integrated information System which will assess Earthquake Damage both in near real time mode and over probable scenarios; Dissemination / Communication actions including the development of a Smartphone app and of an educational hub, to promote public awareness and improve safety against earthquakes. The ultimate goal is to improve the effectiveness of earthquake prevention and response measures and thus to strengthen resilience against seismic risk.
Partners of the Project include the: International Hellenic University (IHU) as Lead Partner, Institute of Engineering Seismology & Earthquake Engineering (Hellas), Democritus University of Thrace (Hellas), Gebse Technical University (Turkey) and Ovidius University of Constanta- (Romania).
The Project’s duration is 30 months and its budget amounts to 974,860.00 €.
